Violin, Assunto Carloni, Forli 1982
Forlìを拠点として製作活動を行い、その作品は現在も国際的なオークションや楽器アーカイブに記録されています。特に1982年には、Bagnacavalloで開催された製作コンクールにおいてヴァイオリン部門の金賞を受賞したとされ、彼の製作歴を語るうえで重要な年となりました。
今回ご紹介するヴァイオリンは、まさにその1982年にForlìで製作された一挺です。
ラベルには “ASSUNTO CARLONI / Forlì - P.le Benefattori, 3 / 1982” と記され、製作者自身の署名が確認できます。また、裏板上部のボタンにはCarloniを示す「CA」のブランドが施されています。
本作には細かく規則的な杢を持つ一枚板のメイプルが裏板に用いられ、その美しい杢は側板やスクロールにも見ることができます。透明感のあるオレンジから赤褐色のニスが木材の表情を鮮明に浮かび上がらせ、全体に温かみのある外観を与えています。
表板には比較的均整の取れたスプルースが用いられ、伸びやかなf字孔、明瞭なエッジワーク、端正に収められたパーフリングなど、丁寧な製作を見ることができます。
Carloniが製作コンクールで評価を受けた1982年その年に製作された作品であることも含め、彼の製作活動を知るうえで興味深い一挺です。

Assunto Carloni, born in Forlì in 1932, was an Italian violin maker associated with the violin-making tradition of Emilia-Romagna.
Working in Forlì, Carloni produced instruments that are today represented in international auction records and violin archives. 1982 was a particularly significant year in his career, as he is recorded as having received a gold medal in the violin category at the violin-making competition held in Bagnacavallo.
The violin presented here was made in Forlì in that same year, 1982.
Its label reads “ASSUNTO CARLONI / Forlì - P.le Benefattori, 3 / 1982” and bears the maker's handwritten signature. The button is additionally branded with Carloni's “CA” mark.
The instrument features a one-piece maple back with fine, regular figure, complemented by similarly figured maple in the ribs and scroll. A transparent orange to reddish-brown varnish allows the character of the wood to remain clearly visible and gives the instrument a warm, harmonious appearance.
The spruce table displays relatively even grain, together with elongated f-holes, clearly defined edgework and neatly executed purfling.
Made in the very year in which Carloni received recognition at Bagnacavallo, this 1982 violin represents a particularly interesting example from an important moment in the maker's career.
The violin is accompanied by a certificate by Alberto Giordano of Genoa.
